The Digital Short – Grabbing Your Attention. Only Just.

Sure, YouTube has been around for quite awhile. But viral videos had been bubbling under quietly, until mainstream media decided take matters into its own hands by crossing over, cementing the place of the short video format in Internet folklore. I’m no Internet historian, but at least for me, the SNL (Saturday Night Live) Digital Short forever elevated the potential of what the short video format could achieve, and they remain as some of my favorite ones still.

Perhaps in the choice-ridden world of the Internet, the only way for comedy to stay abreast is by keeping things short and funny.

The one that started it all for me is this hilarious piece called ‘Lazy Sunday’ where 2 white urbanites gangsta’ rap their way through the process of going to the movies and buying pastries, turning the genre on its head by rapping about the mostmundane things(although they are not the only ones), remember to check out the ridiculously out-of-place gunshot at the end !!

Here are the more popular successors…. Natalie Portman rocks need I say more?

The unapologetically lewd Dick in a Box featuring Justin Timberlake, love the xmas-hannukah-quanza bridge

Finally, this enjoyable clip de-demonises Mahmoud Ahmadenijad. Listen out for the lyrics, beautifully satirical – guest appearance by Adam Levine of Maroon 5 butchering the song (I-Ran So Far Away ) get it? Check the crazy lyrics
